The most memorable thing about this run was that it was freakin’ cold at the start line! But, luckily, I have an awesome little sister who a) let us sleep at her house the night before; b) drove me to the start line so I could stay in her car until the last possible minute! Of course, my favorite part was seeing my cheer squad at the finish line (a nice surprise as I wasn’t sure Tom would be able to get all of the kids up and at ’em in time for the finish!).

My favorite thing about this run was the purple tech tee I got! I also earned an extra medal for completing 3 runs in the Bay Area Running series (Santa Cruz Half, Jungle Run, and Morgan Hill Half).
Also, I passed a dad (who looked like he had just started a 1-mile run) with his 13-year old son. Chatted with them for a minute and eventually, that kid passed me (as did his dad who continued to look like he was on the shortest run ever)! Amazing and inspiring. I hope I will be able to run these distances with my kids some day.
The course was uphill for the entire first half. Here are my notes from Runkeeper which reported a Total Climb of 4889:
Total climb stats are off by quite a margin, but yes, this was a hilly run. Analyzed the GPX file across a few other tools and these show a total climb (total ascent + total descent) as ~3020ft; Total climb: 1515ft; Total descent: 1505-1508ft. Unfortunately, elevation data is only as good as the device and, apparently, GPS on mobile is notoriously inaccurate.
