The last big run was See Jane Run. I came for the non-existent burritos the day after Thing 1 broke his arm just after his dance performance ended. We got to the hotel late (around 11pm), after having spent about 3 hours at Urgent Care getting x-rays, consultation and, finally, a temporary splint for Thing 1!

I had asked my son if he wanted to go and his very sweet response was, “Oh, yeah. You have to go do your run.” So, we packed up and left for Oakland. I felt more than a twinge of guilt at keeping everyone up so late, so the next morning, I was doubly determined to make the trip worthwhile….And, after several events where I kept placing 4th in my age group, I finally cracked the top 3.

Stats are as follows:
Overall: 44/1055 (4.1%)
Gender : 38/978 (3.8%)
Age Group: 3/120 (2.5%)
Total Time: 1:45:55
Pace: 8:04

Even though they changed the post-race food options between the time I saw their website and the day of the actual event, I’m still glad I went. It was a lovely course, with much of it along the bay. It was also flat (I should have gone faster!)! And, there was yummy champagne at the end!

Thing 2 had also expressed an interest in the Kids’ 1-miler and, by quite a coincidence, we saw one of her classmates (his mom and I were on the hotel shuttle to the start line together!) which made it extra fun.

All in all, it was a fun run and I’m glad Thing 2 liked it as well, but it’s a bit far so not sure we’ll return.
